QuakeManager capabilities cover ground motion database management, ground motion analysis, selection and scaling, visualization and plotting, modification and other utilities and project management features.
 
Ground Motion Database Management Features

The QuakeManager database and user interface allow you to explore your data over multiple dimensions including:

  1. Visual (charts),
  2. Numerical (data fields),
  3. Hierarchical (through database folders and record relationships), and
  4. File Management (file disk storage and download).

 

Ground motion database management features include:

  • Extremely powerful database engine that can store a virtually unlimited number of records
  • Built-in databases that ship with the software that include 10,000's of records metadata, including a fully searchable NGA-West2 database (metadata and spectra data), and the full SAC Steel records database
  • Catalog and manage your own records with unprecedented ease
  • Super-easy import records using drag-and-drop or by importing metada from csv file
  • Automatically recognize numerous types of ground motion data files including USGS (SMC), PEER, SAC Steel format. Many more are coming including K-NET and others.
  • Store and organize record in collections and sub-collections, similar to folders on your disk
  • Ability to create, copy, move, rename and delete collections
  • Easily move and copy records between different collections
  • Easily define relationships between record components, which allows QuakeManager to automatically compute resultant spectra and intensities
  • Self-Building Database: Just drop your records in the database, and watch as QuakeManager computes all spectral values (including H1, H2, V, SRSS, GeoMean, RotD100, RotD50, RotD0, etc), and every intensity measure that you possibly need

Ground Motion Analysis Features

  •  Once you drag a record or set of records, QuakeManager will automatically compute their spectra and intensity measures
  • Just drop your records in the database, and watch as QuakeManager computes all spectral values (including H1, H2, V, SRSS, RotD100, RotD50, RotD0, etc), and every intensity measure that you possibly need
  • Spectra computed include component spectra, horizontal (H1 and H2) and vertical (V). QuakeManager will also compute resultant spectra such as SRSS, Geamean (GM), RotD100 (maximum rotated), RotD50 (Median rotated), RotD0 (Minimum rotated). It will also compute Min(H1,H2) and Max(H1,H2).
  • Easily compute statistics including mean (average), mean+sigma (84th percentile) and mean-sigma (16th percentile) for any set of record spectra. Compare statistics to target spectra.
  • Easily copy/export data for further plotting or analysis in Excel or other software
  • Automatically compute about 40 different intensity measures that can be used in ground motion search, filtering, and selection and scaling
  • Compute Fourier (FFT) and power Spectral Density (PSD) spectra
 
Ground Motion Selection and Scaling Features

  • Define target spectra, including option for defining code spectra (e.g. ASCE 7 or IBC), or defining user-defined spectra (such as site-specific spectra)
  • Define ground motion selection criteria including:
    • acceptable scale factors,
    • period scaling range and weights,
    • different methods for measuring goodness of fit between the selected suite and the target
  • Define ground motion selection constraints, such as:
    • desired dispersion,
    • limiting of individual record peak values, and
    • conditions on scaling the suite average (e.g. to not fall below target by more than 10%)
  • Ground motion selection options such as:
    • Type of target spectra (component, SRSS, RotD100, etc)
    • Filtering of ground motion records by magnitude, distance, soil type, duration, highest-usable frequency, intensity measures, etc.
    • Number of records per suite, number of records per event, etc.
    • Desired number of pulse records and their pulse period distribution
    • Ground motion selection method
    • Number of runs and iterations
    • Whether to perform optimization to reduce error
  • Super-fast ground motion selection and optimization
  • User can inspect and visualize different solution suites, and plot spectra, time-histories, view record properties and intensities. This allows the user to select one of the suites as the preferred solution.
  • Store your selected suite in "Record Suite" objects under your project
  • All selection parameters can be saved in the project for later use!
  
Visualization and Data Plotting Features

  •  A large number of report-ready plots for visualizing acceleration/velocity/displacement histories, spectral values (acc/vel/disp), Fourier (FFT), Power Spectral Density (PSD), and others.
  • Full control over visual appearance of each plot (gridlines, x and y log/linear axes, legend, etc)
  • Easily turn on/off quantities and resultant spectra that are plotted
  • Easy export of plotted data to clipboard for use in other software (e.g. Excel, Matlab, etc)
  • Select record spectra for plotting including suite statistics (average, standard deviation, etc) 
 
Ground Motion Modification Features

  • Ground motion record rotation to Fault-Normal/Fault-Parallel or any other orientation

Utilities and Project Management Features

  •  Automatically recognize and import numerous types of ground motion data files including USGS (SMC), PEER, SAC Steel format. Many more are coming including K-NET and others.
  • Full unit awareness! The database and software track units for all files and quantities, and units can be changed on the fly based on user preference. The user can select between different unit systems, and all data including properties, intensities, spectra and charts, immediately reflect updated units.
  • Utilities for mass-computation of ground motion spectra and intensity measures. Whether you have 1, 100 or 100,000 records, computing spectra can be done with a click of a button. No more computing spectra and intensity measures in other software, then exporting, and importing into your database. This also means the database is always up to date, self-consistent, and ready for search.
  • Utilities for easy import of large number of records. Either use drag and drop, or prepare a csv file which allows you to import valuable metadata for search and filtering.
  • All created project items are saved in the  "Project" which can be saved to file for archiving and loading at a later time. You never have to wonder again about the parameters you used on a previous project!
  • The ground motion database can be used to store and archive the records you selected for previous projects, records from instrumentation and vibration monitoring, records from recent earthquakes, ....
